Confidence is Learned

Your child's needs come first.

From tackling personal decisions to reaching important milestones, my goal is to guide your child on the path of success. As a professional Educator. I’m fueled by my commitment to excellence and go the extra mile to make sure I give my all.
I am a mom, an Educator, and both a Certified Health Coach .
I can’t remember not wanting to teach. It was my favorite game to play - lining my siblings, friends, dolls, whatever up and “teaching” them whatever it was that I had learned that day.
My life’s work has been in Education. When I started as a classroom teacher over 40 years ago, there was a holistic approach to education, making sure all a child’s needs were met - social, emotional, academic. We taught, along with reading, writing, and ‘rithmatic, the skills that needed to build confidence and self-esteem.
We developed each child’s unique abilities.
We celebrated their successes and talents, and had “co-operative learning centers” to build their skills in all areas.
And I lived through the shift.

We are light years away from that holistic approach now.
I’ve see the emphasis go from a holistic approach - educating the whole child, making sure all their needs were met,
to being hyper-focused on grades and test scores - often ignoring the basics child developmental to push an agenda ahead.

There is not a lot of time to develop the skills necessary to build confidence and self-esteem.
So, I’ve made it my mission to help kids (and support parents) to develop the confidence and skills they need to navigate today’s world. I am committed to helping each child to shine and not deflate under the pressures to keep up with these unrealistic expectations.

Combine my more than 40 years of classroom teaching experience, my training and experience as a certified coach, my experience as a mother of four, and you have someone who is uniquely qualified to help children to sift through the noise and know their worth.

People are Talking!

Mary Kerwin has made a tremendous difference in my family's life. My son, Ross, first knew her as his elementary school teacher and, later, as his tutor. Ross had learning differences and physical challenges, and Mary taught him with skill and sensitivity, always acting as his advocate. Mary has been a source of support and inspiration for our entire family.

Mary was my daughter's first teacher. She laid the foundation for establishing powering tools that allow my daughter to be the confident girl she is today.
As parents, we can't do this alone. We need more teachers like her coaching and guiding our kids and igniting confidence so that they will achieve success, not only academically but in all aspects of their lives.

Mary was a very dedicated Pre School Teacher who wanted to do everything possible to help her children learn through playful activities and to be the best that they can be. My youngest son was a student of Mary’s at Our Lady of Pompeii School in New York City. Knowing Mary on a personal level allowed me to know another side of Mary that most other parents didn’t get to see. She is a very dedicated parent as well. She allowed her own children to develop their self-confidence at a young age. Mary allowed them to grow, but always made sure they knew she was on the sidelines if they ever had questions. She was and still is their biggest fan. This special parenting technique allowed her to give that back to her young students. Mary is a wonderful person inside and out.
It is not easy being a parent, nor is it always easy being little in the world we live in today. But having Mary on your team makes your child’s world that much easier because of her ability to build children’s self-esteem and confidence - the metamorphosis of a child from a caterpillar into a butterfly.

Mary's extensive history in the education field coupled with her innovative spirit allow children to explore their abilities. Her confidence transfers to the children. When a child feels there is support from the adult, they are able to max and relax! Max out their potential and feel relaxed while achieving their goal. I have worked alongside Mary for many years and she has always encouraged independence and self confidence.
